Kelowna, BC (April 20, 2011) – RE/MAX of Western Canada is supporting B.C Transplant who has launched their new campaign, LIVE LIFE. PASS IT ON., with the goal of increasing online organ donor registration and awareness through social media channels. Along with sponsoring the nation wide, Josh is still waiting campaign, RE/MAX of Western Canada is encouraging its B.C broker owners, agents and affiliates to hang the 65_RedRoses posters in their offices, link the promotional videos to their websites and help spread this worthy message through their social media sites.

Expanding a reach far beyond the big screen, 65_RedRoses is a film based on the personal story of Eva Markvoort and her two online friends who are all battling Cystic Fibrosis (CF) - a fatal genetic disease affecting the lungs and digestive system. For the 23-year-old Canadian; Eva Markvoort (65_RedRoses), time is running out as she waits at the top of the donor list for a double lung transplant. Notified that she will not live longer than two years without new lungs, Eva dreams of becoming a teacher and artist while remaining confident that her pager will go off alerting her that a donor has been found.

65_RedRoses explores what it means to be 23 years old and faced with the unknown fate of life or death. The film has won numerous awards, here are a noted few: Most Popular Canadian Film Award: Vancouver International Film Festival 2009, Most Popular Canadian Documentary Award: National Film Board (Awarded at Vancouver International Film Festival 2009), Top Ten Audience Favourite: Hot Docs International Film Festival 2009, and Best Documentary Award: Arizona International Film Festival 2010.

Markvoort’s story is scheduled to run as a special on the Oprah Winfrey Network this season.

Here are a few tips from BC Transplant on how you can help: Update your Facebook profile picture to, “I Gave My Heart”, with our new app at www.facebook.com/bctransplant, Tweet #4Eva – the movement for organ donation and watch the new online http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFNCEG5Iq8E and share the link via social media. Although more than 781,460 people have registered their decision on the Organ Donor Registry, this amount represents only 17% of the provincial population. And, today there are more than 390 people currently waiting for a second chance. Help stop the wait.
