Kelowna, BC – RE/MAX affiliates step up and give back to the communities in which they live and work by raising funds to support Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals. The silent and live auctions at the annual “Breakfast of Champions”, held on February 13th during the RE/MAX of Western Canada 27th Annual Conference in Edmonton, AB, raised $52,962.
“RE/MAX affiliates have truly embraced this worthy cause”, said Marie Sheppy, Senior Coordinator, Corporate Affairs (Children’s Miracle Network liaison). “This is especially evident when we gather annually to celebrate our successes as an organization and as individuals”. Stories of children recovering and receiving successful treatment were shared with over 600 RE/MAX delegates in attendance at the breakfast fundraiser. “I feel blessed to belong to an organization who gives so selflessly with their time and money. RE/MAX affiliates are truly sold on giving.”
In addition, Mayor Stephan Mandel of the City of Edmonton proclaimed February 13, 2010 “Miracle City Day” for the Edmonton RE/MAX Sales Associates. To receive this honour, 100% of RE/MAX Sales Associates have pledged a financial donation on behalf of each property bought and sold to the Children’s Miracle Network member hospital. Becoming a Miracle City is an incredible accomplishment as it is an all-hands-on-deck procedure. In addition to each Sales Associate contributing a portion of their income to the cause, Broker Owners must encourage new and existing agents to participate in the program. Office Administrators also take part in training sessions to report donations and liaise between the Children’s Miracle Network and each office.
RE/MAX Sales Associates have helped raise over $3.5 million for the Children’s Miracle Network 14 member hospitals and foundations across Canada in 2009, helping the 2.6 million children who are treated each year. Since 1992, Canadian RE/MAX Sales Associates have raised over $35.5 million. It is because of these numbers and the dedication of Edmonton’s RE/MAX affiliates that Mayor Mandel wished to honour these efforts.
The Children’s Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness programs for the benefit of children served by its associated hospitals, health centres, and foundations.
