Edmonton RE/MAX Agents Award ‘My Community’ Writing Contest Winners
Edmonton RE/MAX agents recently announced the 2015 winners of the My Community Writing contest, open to all Grade 4, 5 and 6 students in the Edmonton area.
Winning students received an iPad mini and each of the students’ schools received a $1,000 gift.
“We are excited to have picked the top three essays from over 700 entrants,” said Melanie Boles, chairperson of the committee representing the 800-plus agents in the greater Edmonton area.
The theme for 2015 was: What I would do to make my community a better place. The finalists were selected from a list supplied by judges made up of writers and community organizers.
“We were very impressed and overwhelmed by some of the ideas presented by the students,” said Boles.
“One school in St. Albert invited Mayor Nolan Crouse to visit the school and listen to the students’ ideas for making the community a better place. This was a really good experience for the students, judges and our entire RE/MAX team.”
